JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Gerindra faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD defended the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, who was criticized by several ministers for pulling the emergency brake and will re-implement large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta.

The vice chairman of the Gerindra faction in the DPRD DKI S Andyka said that if the ministers protested or changed Anies’ policy of re-implementing the PSBB, then this would be a sign of not obeying President Joko Widodo.

This is because, some time earlier, Jokowi had issued a statement that the government should prioritize public health.

“So the term is that the ministers protest against Pak Anies, that is, the ministers who protest are disobedient to their leaders, they are disobedient to the president. The president has said, the president has told the minister, prioritize health, like this that later we will speak of economic subjects “. Andyka said when contacted on Friday (11/9/2020).

Andyka actually questioned the ministers’ compliance with the president because his criticisms were deemed contrary to the president’s statement.

“So the point is that if there are presidential assistants who contradict the leadership of the president, this must be questioned. So I am not in the capacity to criticize the ministers, I only say that these ministers must obedient Cock,” he said.

This member of Commission C DPRD DKI said that the policy of removing the emergency brake is indeed a dilemma from an economic perspective.

This is because various business sectors will be affected and will have direct economic consequences.

However, PSBB is considered to be a way to reduce the rate of Covid-19 in DKI Jakarta, which has recently always exceeded 1,000 cases per day.

“These are two things that are very difficult for us to do, which is a problem humanity or economy? Who wants to go first? The president, in my opinion, has been very good, his advice is to put humanity first, humanity. Then the economy did the same, “he said.

He hopes that with the re-implementation of the PSBB, the DKI Jakarta provincial government can be more assertive in monitoring and the public can be more disciplined.

“We hope that everyone, residents of Jakarta, friends of the buffer zone, that the measures taken by Jakarta have been effective and follow the leadership of the president,” Andyka added.

It is known that Anies’ decision to reintroduce the PSBB on September 14, 2020 received a response from three finance ministers from Indonesia’s Advanced Cabinet.

President Jokowi’s economic advisers assessed that the re-implementation of the PSBB could have an impact on the economy, which is currently starting to grow after being hit by the implementation of the Jakarta PSBB in March.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the drop in the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) was due to pressure from the Jakarta PSBB announcement.

On Thursday (10/9/2020) at 10.36 WIB, JCI fell sharply 5 percent to the level of 4,892.87 or 257.49 points below.

In fact, according to Airlangga, the performance of the stock index had previously started to move in a positive direction.

“Several things we have seen have shown positive results based on the index as of yesterday,” Airlangga said in a video conference.

“Today is still uncertain because ad The governor of Jakarta last night, so this morning’s index was below 5,000, “he explained.

On the other hand, according to Airlangga, Anies’ decision to remove the emergency brake had a great impact on the economy.

Because, according to him, economic performance is not only influenced by fundamental conditions, but also by public and citizen trust.

The second protest came from the Minister of Commerce, Agus Suparmanto, who warned about the impact of the Jakarta PSBB.

According to him, the implementation of the PSBB could potentially disrupt the smooth distribution of goods, especially considering Jakarta’s role in the national distribution flow.

“Because our GDP is 50 percent of consumption. If this distribution is not smooth, it will disrupt Indonesia’s GDP, “Agus told the Kadin National Coordination Meeting.

Even if there is a PSBB, it asks the provincial government of DKI Jakarta not to obstruct the supply chain for the distribution of goods in and out of Jakarta.

“In the PSBB situation, there are things that should not be obstructed, namely the distribution channel. This distribution channel in each PSBB must continue to function so that supply chain not bothered, “said Agus.

He hopes that by maintaining the supply chain and domestic economic activities, it is expected that losses due to the weakening of the economy can be reduced in conjunction with the implementation of PSBB.

In particular, it is expected that workers will not generate waves of layoffs (PHK).

Meanwhile, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said that the performance of the manufacturing industry would again come under pressure due to this decision.

This will get worse if other regions also implement the same.

“We see that the industry that is currently operating is concerned that it is under pressure, but the thing to convey is that the government assesses public health as non-negotiable,” Agus said in a video conference.

Agus explained that the manufacturing industry is the largest contributor to the Indonesian economy.

The poor performance of the manufacturing industry will have a major impact on the overall economic situation.

The contribution of the manufacturing industry to the economy was 19.87 percent. In the second quarter of 2020, the manufacturing industry contracted -5.37 percent.
