Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The provincial government of DKI Jakarta plans to implement a full-scale social restriction (PSBB) from September 14, 2020. In connection with this plan, the online motorcycle taxi drivers association (OJOL) which is part of the Two Wheels Action Association (Garda) filed a series of lawsuits.
Garda Chairman Igun Wicaksana’s chairman said that full PSBB was good policy to suppress Covid-19 in Jakarta.
“But for eye-catching drivers it is difficult, so we asked Mr. Anies Baswedan (Governor of DKI Jakarta) to allow eye-catching drivers to carry passengers with strict health protocols,” he told CNBC Indonesia on Thursday (10 / 09/2020).
According to Igun, the first PSBB to ban motorcycle taxis like Grab and Gojek from carrying passengers caused drivers to lose 70-80% of their income and this was very onerous.
“If it is not allowed, we ask for compensation for social assistance from both the central government and the provincial government to finance life. If possible, social assistance is given per week, although it is necessary daily,” he explained.
Previously, Anies Baswedan said that if the full PSBB was not implemented and the number of active Covid-19 cases was like last week, then on September 17, 2020 all the beds in the isolation room in the hospital would be full. After that, the hospital will not be able to host Covid positive patients.
In conducting the full PSBB, Anies called on the public to stay home without traveling and would prohibit public activities that involve gathering people. Transportation will also be strictly limited and its hours of operation.
“Right now the condition is an emergency, it was more of an emergency during the initial outbreak, so don’t leave the house if you don’t have to. Stay home, don’t leave Jakarta if it’s not urgent,” Anies said in a press conference, Wednesday (9/9/2020). .
