JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The bodies of the founder of Kompas Gramedia and the general leader of Kompas Daily, Jakob Oetama, were buried in state proceedings at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 11:20 AM WIB.
Delivery of the family body to the state by the president of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Bambang Soesatyo. The funeral ceremony was presided over by former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla as inspector of the ceremony.
“The funeral of Mr. Jakob Oetama at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in honor of the star Mahaputera Utama he received in 1973. At that time he also served as a member of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly,” said the Director of Corporate Communications Rusdi Amral in a press release on Thursday (10/9/2020).

Jakob Oetama’s body was previously buried in the Kompas Gramedia Palmerah Selatan building. The mass for the liberation of the bodies was held this morning at 10:00.
Jakob Oetama (88) died at Mitra Keluarga Kelapa Gading Hospital, Jakarta, on Wednesday (9/9/2020) at 1:05 p.m. WIB.
Jakob Oetama’s body will be brought to the funeral home at Jalan Sriwijaya 40, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta, to attend mass services.

Jakob Oetama had been treated at Mitra Keluarga Kelapa Gading Hospital since August 22, 2020. He was hospitalized in critical condition and suffered from multi-organ disorders.
Jakob Oetama’s condition improved during treatment. However, due to age and comorbid illnesses, Jakob Oetama’s condition worsened and he eventually died.
The body of the founder of Kompas Gramedia, Jakob Oetama (88), was brought to the Kompas Gramedia building in South Palmerah, Jakarta, to receive his final respects at the Kompas Gramedia building.
