KOMPAS.com – Indonesia U19 coach Shin Tae-yong spoke after his team was defeated by Croatia on Saturday (9/8/2020) WIB night.

Competing at the SRC Mladost Stadium, the Indonesian U19 team collapsed with a score of 1-7.

Despite losing by a landslide, Garuda Muda’s squad achieved their first goal in the 2020 U19 International Friendly Tournament that was held in the middle of this training camp.

The first goal for the U19 team was scored by Bagas Kaffa in the 73rd minute after receiving a cross from the left wing.

Shin Tae-yong said that his team had progressed in a few moments, compared to when they lost to Bulgaria in the first match.

“There were several moments in the match where the players played quite well compared to the previous match (Bulgaria),” Shin was quoted as saying on the PSSI website.

“However, this sure result is disappointing because we lost a lot,” said the South Korean manager.

Shin Tae-yong added that the mentality of his foster children has yet to be honed.

This is after he saw several opportunities or momentum that his players did not execute properly.

“We must immediately correct the existing deficiencies,” he said.

“What is clear is that the team is still in the works because the training material is of high intensity,” stressed the South Korean coach at the 2018 World Cup.

With these successive defeats, the Indonesian Under-19 team occupies the interim position of the standings with zero points.

In the first match, Garuda Muda’s squad lost 3-0 to Bulgaria.

Above the U-19 squad is Saudi Arabia, who have not collected any points yet either.

In the next (last) match, the Indonesian U19 team will face Saudi Arabia.
