“It is expected that this wage subsidy can maintain and increase the purchasing power of workers and boost consumer spending. This will have a multiplier effect on economic growth and social welfare,” said Labor Minister Ida Fauziyah in a Press release from the Ministry of Manpower, Monday, September 7, 2020.
Through wage / salary subsidies, he said, the government wants to protect, improve and sustain the economy of workers from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Money that goes directly to the worker’s account can be spent based on needs, both primary and secondary.
“It would be better if the subsidized wages / salaries were spent on local products and MSMEs. So the local industry and UMKM will also be active,” he said.
