Belgium achieved a perfect result in the first match of the UEFA Nations League group stage. Against Denmark, De Rode Duivels won 2-0.
The first match of Group 2 of the UEFA League Nations League will see Denmark vs Belgium. The match was held at Parken Stadium on Sunday (9/6/2020) at the WIB in the morning.
Belgium opened a quick goal in the ninth minute. Jason Denayer wrote his name on the scoreboard.
With Dries Mertens entering the Danish penalty area, Denayer was able to continue the ball with a header that passed goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. It scores 1-0 for Belgium.
After conceding, Denmark seemed more aggressive and beat the Belgian defense to equalize. Chrisian Eriksen came close to scoring in the 25th minute with an attempted shot from outside the area, but Simon Mignolet saved the ball.
Denmark threatened again in the 31st minute. Martin Braithwaite shoots the ball from the Belgian penalty area, but his efforts can still be blocked by the visitors’ backline.
No additional goals are created until the interval is entered. The first half closed with Belgium leading 1-0.
In the second half, the two teams did not relax their attacks. Belgium nearly doubled their lead in the 61st minute with an attempt by Axel Witsel, but the ball was blocked.
Belgium threatened again in the 75th minute. Romelu Lukaku shoots the ball from the left side of the Danish penalty area, but his efforts have been unsuccessful.
Objective! Belgium doubled the lead in the 76th minute. This time De Rode Duivels’ goal was scored by Mertens.
The Napoli forward managed to take advantage of the ball thrown up by Youri Tielemans’ shot that was stopped by Schmeichel. Mertens shot the ball into the Danish goal without difficulty, as he changed the score to 2-0 for Belgium.
Denmark is trying to catch up with the remaining time available. But until the match ended, the 2-0 score for Belgium’s victory did not change.
With this result, Belgium occupies the first position of Group 2 of the UEFA Nations League League with three points. Meanwhile, Denmark ranks fourth.
