Buya Anwar questioned the radicalism promoted by the Minister of Religion.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Buya Anwar Abbas presented an open letter to the Minister of Religion (Menag) Fachrul Razi.
Through this open letter, Buya Anwar, as an observer of social, economic and religious issues, suggested that the Minister of Religion speak fully and directly.
Said Buya Anwar, the Minister of Religion when speaking of the ends of radicalism and those that hit Muslims. “We do not agree with radicalism because it ends up being uncomfortable for many parties, especially certain parties,” Buya Anwar said in his open letter to the Minister of Religion on Friday (9/4).
He stressed, but the Minister of Religion should have also questioned why radicalism arose. According to the Minister of Religion, of course the rise of radicalism is due to the fact that the existing curriculum and textbooks contain this topic or because many preachers believe so. Therefore, the solution for the Minister of Religion is to replace or perfect his book and not to present preachers and speakers whose speech is critical of the regime.
Buya Anwar, who is also the general secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI general secretary), relayed what the preachers and speakers criticized. Namely, the existence of injustice and discrimination and anarchy in this country. Because the law in this country is sharp downward, sharp upward.
In addition, officials use many laws (laws) and policies as a basis for seeking rent and colluding with the owners of capital to reap the benefits for themselves and their groups. “Until we see many people screaming in pain at the treatment of the authorities who commit violence in the life of the community (KDKM),” said Buya Anwar.
Buya Anwar said, if a husband or wife commits domestic violence (KDRT), they can be arrested, that is clearly a good law. But if there are civil servants, civil servants and businessmen or owners of capital who carry out the oral or physical KDKM, then who will act?
“Hardly anyone acts, even we see that the people who have committed these acts of violence stand free and sit proud on their respective thrones with their faces without feeling guilty,” said Buya Anwar.
Then the dai screamed to defend the rights of the oppressed people. So they are considered and labeled as provocative and radical. If we look broadly and clearly, it is not true whether labeling dai as provocateurs and radicals can be justified.
“Therefore, if we talk about radicalism, let’s not just look at the end or the mouth, but look for the cause upwards. We will find the core of the problem, that is, the existence of injustice, discrimination and other despicable features,” said Buya Anwar, who is also Chairman of the Central Executive of Muhammadiyah. is.
Buya Anwar said, if the Minister of Religion wants to seriously eradicate radicalism, he should not just speak in his mouth, but rather the Minister of Religion must speak comprehensively and in its entirety. Next, create a program to stop all forms of injustice and discrimination that exist in this country from its roots.
If the roots of radicalism cannot be removed, the unwanted radicalism will continue to emerge. To become a wasted job that wastes time, funds and energy because it is a job that never ends.
For this reason, we urge the Minister of Religion to start talking not only about radicalism but also about the causes where the cause is due to the multiple practices of injustice and discrimination, as well as other dishonorable acts that we must stop and stop ”. he said.
“We need to do this so that this country can become a developed, just and prosperous country where people live safely, peacefully and happily. Isn’t that our common goal in the state,” Buya Anwar said at the end of his open letter.
