Bekasi industrial cluster starting from a common smoking place

Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil say one of the causes of appearance industrial cluster in the Regency Bekasi starting from the officer’s smoking area. There is no smoking area with ideal air circulation.

“Rooms that are not ventilated should be forced, dismantled, open spaces, windows. If possible, there will no longer be rooms for smokers,” said Emil, as they called him, after directly inspecting the industrial complex at Bekasi Regency, citing Antara, on Friday (4/9).

Emil also asked all companies to improve air circulation in each room. He even suggested that the business owners eliminate smoking areas for employees.


“Due to the findings, the spread also occurred in the shared smoking room, so it should be eliminated,” he said.

Emil said that the industrial cluster is a serious problem. I wanted quick and precise steps to get over it.

“Resources from the provincial government will also be diverted to Bekasi over the next two weeks,” he said.

Emil also asked the owners of the company to do a swab test on their employees. He hopes that the company will not be burdened, but that it will invest so that its employees’ productivity is maintained.

“If the condition is still getting worse, we will still allow rapid tests, although we no longer recommend them in general. We want PCR as the main test reference. Hopefully this step can handle the spread of Covid-19,” he said.

On the same occasion, Bekasi Regent Eka Supria Atmaja asked the owners of the company to test their workers with swabs. At least 10 percent of the number of employees gradually.

“Therefore, it is mandatory to perform a cleanliness test on all industrial workers,” he said.

The order was established in Decree Number of Bekasi Regent: 440 / Kep.274-Dinkes / 2020. So far, Bekasi Regency has returned to the red zone due to the high transmission of the coronavirus in the industrial complex.

“The decree renewing the decree is an effort to reduce contact between employees to prevent new clusters from being produced,” he said.

Currently, he said, industrial clusters are the biggest contributors to positive cases of the corona virus at Bekasi Regency.

Three factories contributed up to 407 positive cases, namely PT LG Electronic Indonesia, PT Suzuki Indomobil and PT Nippon Oilseal Kogyou (NOK) Indonesia. The details, up to 248 PT LG Electronic Indonesia employees, then 71 PT Suzuki Indomobil employees and 88 PT NOK Indonesia employees.

“More than 90 percent of these industrial estates have confirmed positive conditions with no symptoms,” said Alamsyah, spokesperson for the Covid-19 Task Force at Bekasi Regency, quoted by CNNIndonesia television broadcast, on Wednesday (2/9).
