BIMA, KOMPAS.com – Accused of being a witch doctor, the house of a grandfather with SJ origin (50) in Sai Village, Soromandi district, Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, was set on fire by residents on Thursday (3/9/2020).

The fire also caused the 200 million rupees in cash that was stored in SJ’s home to burn.

“The damaged and burned items included 200 million rupees. The total loss was 250 million rupees,” said Ipda Zulkifli, head of the Soromandi sector subsector, in a written statement on Thursday.

Zulkifli explained that the incident started when SJ was lying under his house on Thursday morning.

The victim then saw two unidentified people arrive with their faces covered in sarongs.

At that time the victim immediately reprimanded using the Bima language to ask the identity of the two people. However, there was no reply.

After a few minutes, about 50 people came up and threw at SJ’s house while swearing.

Seeing many people coming to attack his residence, SJ brought his family to escape to Dusun Riando.

At the time, dozens of residents burned down SJ’s home. The police who received the information later arrived at the scene.

To prevent mafia tantrums, members of the Soromandi subsector have escorted the victim, his wife and their son to a family home in another village.

Currently, the police are still investigating the case.

Zulkifli appealed to the people of Soromandi to be prudent in accepting insecure information.

“Get out of the habit of taking the law into your own hands. Let’s keep security and order together in the Soromandi region so that it is always safely under control before peaceful regional elections in our beloved area,” said Zulkifli.
