JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – PDI-P DPP President Megawati Soekarnoputri admitted that she was surprised that the people of West Sumatra had not yet fully accepted the PDI-P.

He conveyed this by briefing the Pilkada 2020 candidate pairs on Wednesday (2/9/2020).

“If I look at West Sumatra, I think why people in West Sumatra don’t seem to like the PDI-P, even though there are regions that want a DPC or DPD,” Mega said.

According to him, this made it difficult for the PDI-P to determine candidates for regional chief in West Sumatra.

In fact, Mega said, many national heroes were born in West Sumatra.

“Finding a leader in the area, in my opinion, will be a bit difficult,” he said.

“However, if we look back at the nation’s history, many West Sumatra people became nationalists who at that time collaborated with Bung Karno (Soekarno), Bung Hatta (Moh Hatta). Bung Hatta actually came from West Sumatra.” Mega said.

He also said that this condition is a task for all PDI-P cadres.

Mega said that cadres must work hard so that people entrust their aspirations to the PDI-P.

“Things like this are actually our duty to study why there are regions that they can’t or won’t, which means that people can trust the political party’s fighting tool called PDI-P,” he said.
