Police arrest 6 beggars who catch a truck driver on the Tanjung Priok toll road

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Police arrested six of the eight members of the robber gang who stopped a truck driver on the Wiyoto Wiyono KM 15/800 toll road in the direction of Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta on Sunday (30 / 9/2020) early in the morning.

The actions of the thugs were recorded on CCTV and the video went viral on social media.

“Members of the PJR traffic were patrolling the toll road at the time, in order to arrest the group of thieves who were operating on this toll road,” said Deputy Chief of the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Aries Andhi, during a press conference at North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters, Koja, on Wednesday.

Aries said the arrests began when the toll road manager reported an act of looting that had happened to the truck driver.

The action was also recorded by surveillance cameras or CCTV. Armed with CCTV, the police pursued the perpetrator’s car, an Angkot 15A that was heading for Tanjung Priok-Kota.

“Initially, there were many complaints filed by toll service providers related to the theft incident on the highway experienced by truckers and container drivers in general. Based on the complaints received, analyzes and investigations were carried out, ”said Aries.

Police eventually arrested six of the perpetrators, while two others were added to the wanted list (DPO).

One of the suspects, SG, was shot in the leg by the police for resisting the officer when he was about to be arrested.

“Investigators immediately carried out the development and eventually arrested the six perpetrators, two of whom were still OPD of the investigators,” Aries said.

From the suspect’s hands, the police obtained evidence in the form of two minibus cars, two knives, a karambit and a cell phone unit.

Now they are charged with article 365 of the Penal Code regarding the crime of theft by force and article 480 of the Penal Code with the threat of a penalty of 12 years in prison.
