A boy in Taiwan is caught on a kite. He was swept away and flew high in the air.
CNN reported that on Tuesday (1/9/2020) the Taiwan kite festival that was held last Sunday turned terrifying. It was when a 3-year-old girl got caught in the tail of a giant kite and soared into the air.
An international kite festival is known to take place in Hsinchu City, south of the capital city of Taipei. The video of this accident circulates widely on social networks.
The video shows several people preparing large orange kites. The kite then flew through the air due to the strong wind.
When the committee released the kite, the toy unexpectedly flew along with a small child dangling from its tail. It is unclear how high it was lifted by the kite, or how it was first caught inside.

He was rushed to the hospital with his mother and festival staff, but miraculously only suffered minor injuries. He had blisters on his face and neck, according to the Taiwan government’s Central News Agency.
After undergoing treatment, he was discharged and has stayed home with his family. In a statement on Facebook, Hsinchu Mayor Lin Chih-chien apologized for the incident.
He said the festival was immediately called off. The policy is to ensure the safety of the participants.
“We will review the situation to prevent accidents like this from happening again and we will hold them accountable,” he said.
Wind speeds during the Sunday afternoon kite festival were very strong, hitting 7 on the Beaufort scale. This means that wind speeds range from 50 to 61 kilometers per hour, according to CNA. Wind speeds on this scale are only one level in stormy conditions.
