Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –

Spokesperson for the Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, Masduki Baidlowi provided clarification on the issue of the Regent Deputy candidate of Karawang who was brought by the PDIP, Ahmad Adly fairuz status as Ma’ruf’s grandson.

Masduki stated that Adly only had family ties to Ma’ruf. However, Adly does not have a direct relationship as Ma’ruf Amin’s grandson.

“Saying that a grandchild is not okay. Yes, there is still a family relationship, but there is no relationship with a grandchild,” Masduki said when contacted by reporters on Tuesday (1/9).

Furthermore, Masduki explained that the families of Adly and Ma’ruf live and come from the same village, that is, in the Kresek district, Tangerang Regency.

Masduki said Ma’ruf Amin’s party tolerated the claim because Adly was nominating himself as a candidate for regent of Karawang.

Masduki stated that Ma’ruf did not feel the need to clarify this right because he did not feel harmed by the claim.

“The Ma’ruf family does not question the developing issues either. So yes, the vice president feels there is no need to clarify,” Masduki said.

It is known that the PDIP itself has appointed Adly as a candidate for deputy regent to accompany Yessy Karya Lianti, who was conspired as a candidate for regent of Karawang.

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto stated that the reason his party brought in Adly was not because of his status as Ma’ruf’s grandson.

According to him, Adly is a young figure who should not lose the political right to be nominated as the head of the region just because of the background of Ma’ruf’s grandson.
