Acting Director General of Health Services (Yankes) Ministry of Health (Ministry of Health) Abdul Kadir said that the community should not be afraid of being declared positive COVID-19.

He conveyed that there was a stigma that developed in society that being positive about Covid-19 was scary. In fact, he said, not everyone who is positive for Covid-19 causes serious symptoms.

“We should not be too afraid to be positive because positive does not mean we will get sick,” Kadir said at the 64th anniversary of the National Symposium of Unhas that was broadcast live on the FKM UNHAS YouTube account, on Tuesday (January 9) .


Kadir said that people who are positive for Covid-19 without symptoms just need to isolate themselves at home, improve nutritional intake and boost immunity.

According to him, Covid-19 positive people without symptoms do not need to be hospitalized either. Therefore, the capacity of the hospital is not complete.

“Now we must agree to the fifth revision of the Covid-19 Handling Guidelines [orang] who was hospitalized [adalah] those who [memiliki gejala] moderate to severe, “he said.

With this policy, Kadir affirms that the number of existing hospitals is far from complete. He said that there are currently 839 hospitals serving Covid-19 patients. While using the bed (bed occupancy rate) only 42.3 percent.

“Thus, it is not true that the topics that say that the hospitals are full, are all true deceptions,” he said. “Our hospitals are calm. He said the increase in Jakarta, but not all have to be hospitalized,” he said again.

Positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia as of Monday (8/31) reached 174,796 people, of which 125,959 people were declared cured and 7,417 people died.

The Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) noted that, as of August 30, 100 doctors had died due to Covid-19. Most were in East Java, with 25 doctors, then 15 doctors in North Sumatra and 14 doctors in DKI Jakarta.

The Ministry of Health also responded with compensation of Rs 300 million. In fact, IDI said the most important thing was to improve the hospital’s system and infrastructure and protect medical staff.
