JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The plan to remove premiums and Pertalite re-emerged at the Hearing Meeting (RDP) between PT Pertamina and Commission VII of the Indonesian Parliament on Monday (8/31/2020).

Pertamina CEO Nicke Widyawati said that the simplification of fuel oil products (BBM) follows the provisions of the Ministerial Regulation of the Ministry of Environment and Forests No. 20 of 2019, which requires a minimum standard of 91 RON.

Nicke explained that currently there are still two products under RON 91 that are still being sold, namely Ron 88 (Premium) and RON 90 (Pertalite).

“We will try to handle this because premium and pertalite are the highest consuming portions,” Nicke said.

According to him, only 7 countries still sell gasoline products below RON 90, namely Bangladesh, Colombia, Egypt, Mongolia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Indonesia.

In fact, Nicke said, Indonesia is included in the group of countries that have a GDP of US $ 2,000 to US $ 9,000 per year. According to this classification, Indonesia is the only country that markets the largest number of types of fuel products, that is, 6 types of products.

“That is the biggest reason we need to review this BBM variant again, because reference point 10 countries like this, “Nicke said.

On the other hand, the commercial and commercial executive director of Pertamina Subholding, Mas’ud Khamid, revealed that there was indeed a decrease in the sales of Premium products from the beginning of 2019 to mid-2020.

Daily sales premiums at the beginning of 2019 in the range of 31,000 to 32,000 kiloliters per day“Pertamax is around 10,000 kiloliters, which means that premium sales are three times Pertamax’s sales,” Mas’ud explained.
