Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD assessed that Indonesia’s economic recession is difficult to avoid. In fact, he said that 99% of Indonesia will experience a recession next month.
However, according to him, the recession will not cause Indonesia to experience an economic crisis. He also asked the public not to worry. Since a recession is not an economic crisis.
So if it is true that Indonesia has experienced a receipt, what should the general public do?
The executive director of the Institute for the Development of the Economy and Finance (Indef), Tauhid Ahmad, explained that a recession is not as serious as a depression or an economic crisis. But the impact can also be felt by the community.
In general, purchasing power will decrease. The cause is lower income. For business players, revenue will decline, while for workers the business is likely to delay giving bonuses and the like due to efficiency.
“So it is simple in the pocket the real value decreases. But the worst thing is that there may be a wave of mass layoffs. That must be avoided, ”he explained to detikcom on Sunday (8/30/2020).
In such conditions, perhaps most people can still shop for their daily needs. Now, for people whose income is not decreasing, it is better to save money.
Tauhid suggested postponing all expenses for activities outside of basic necessities, such as vacations. Then the money can be diverted to invest. He suggested investing in the capital market, because it was beginning to have a rebound trend, but he did not recommend investing in the exchange rate.
“It is also possible to invest in a liquid type like gold. So that it is easy to withdraw,” he explained.
