Komnas PA President Arist Merdeka Sirait confirmed the circular letter.
According to him, the prohibition of the use of the term “Anjay” must be seen from various points of view and depending on the context of use.
“Does it mean to demean, insult, annoy or sensationalize people? If that element is met, then the term anjay certainly contains violence. If it contains violence, then there is no tolerance,” Arist said when contacted. Kompas.com, Sunday (8/30/2020).
In fact, according to him, the use of “anjay” in this context can be sanctioned as a form of verbal abuse in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 35/2014 on the Protection of Children.
However, if the term is used in the context of praising or expressing admiration, then Komnas PA does not question the use of the term “anjay”.
