jpnn.com, STOCKHOLM – On Friday (8/28) riots broke out in the southern Swedish city of Malmo. At least 300 people held a protest against the anti-Islamic act.
Hours earlier, several far-right extremists burned a copy of the Koran in the city of Malmö.
The crowd threw various objects at police officers and burned car tires, a police spokesman said.
“We cannot control this, but we are actively trying to take control,” he said.
“We see a link between what happened now and what happened today,” he continued.
The demonstrations are heating up in the same place where the Koran was burned.
The Aftonbladet daily reported that various anti-Islam actions were carried out in Malmo on Friday, including when three men kicked the Quran at each other in an open field.
The protests against Islam came after Rasmus Paludan, leader of Denmark’s far-right political party Hard Line, was denied permission to hold a meeting in the city of Malmo and was detained at the Swedish border, according to the Newspaper. (reuters / intermediate / jpnn)
