Jakarta –
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp joked about his rivals’ business activities this summer. The German indicated that the incorporation of new players is not a guarantee of victory.
It is known that Chelsea began fishing, after being released from the transfer ban penalty. So far the Blues have brought in Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva. There is still Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen) who is being pursued by Roman Abramovich’s club.
Manchester City is also stretching. Ferran Torres and Nathan Ake have officially landed at the Etihad Stadium. While Liverpool have just signed Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiakos.
But Klopp is calm to see the movements of his competitors in the transfer market. According to him, recruiting many players is not a guarantee of success.
“What matters is not how many players the team can bring. In the end, only 11 people can play on the field,” Klopp was quoted as saying by Metro.
“The important thing is to create a team that is difficult to beat and be a team worthy (of winning) being willing to suffer for each other. That is the most important thing, not who can be bought in these difficult times,” explained the former Borussia Dortmund coach. .
Last season, Klopp didn’t make many changes to his roster. After winning the 2018/19 Champions League, he only recruited Adrian to cover for Alisson Becker, who was injured at the start of the season, and Takumi Minamino in the winter transfer market.
Despite only getting two more players to fill the main roster, the already solid Liverpool managed to win the 2019/20 Premier League, after the last time they won it 30 years ago.
