Queue data piling up at Soekarno-Hatta airport, no physical distancing

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – On Thursday (5/14/2020) in the morning, the public was surprised by the circulation of queued photos that meandered without paying attention social distancing that happened at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hata Airport.

The photos of the queue were uploaded to social networks several times by passengers who were about to leave. The Angkasa Pura II Soekarno-Hatta Airport branch confirmed this.

Senior manager of communication and legal affairs at Soekarno-Hatta airport, Febri Toga Simatupang, said the incident that occurred around 0400 WIB was a queue for inspection of the prepared travel documents.

“It really happened (an accumulation of queues) at the Soekarno-Hatta airport this morning, it was due to the validation of the documents of potential passengers leaving,” Febri said when he contacted them. Kompas.com by phone last Thursday.

However, Febri continued, the congestion did not last long. In less than 30 minutes, the employee had rearranged the queue to perform physical distancing.

The process that involved many documents, Febri said, made potential passengers who would carry out the validation pile up.

The three documents that each passenger must validate in the form of airline tickets, a free Covid-19 certificate and an assignment letter or certificate from the office and related agencies.

“And it was validated by the team at the Covid-19 air force unit at Soekarno-Hatta airport. The review of the validation process was carried out carefully,” he said.

Simultaneous flight schedule

Febri also explained that the accumulation of queues at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport was due to almost identical flight schedules,

“Between 06.00 and 08.00 there are 13 flights with almost the same departure, namely 11 Lion Air Group flights and 2 Citilink flights,” Febri said.
