YAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Amien Rais’ lawyer and petitioner for the judicial review of Perppu Number 1 of 2020, Ahmad Yani, confirmed that his client would file a new lawsuit if the Constitutional Court rejects his request.
Perppu has been approved by the DPR. Material testing requests may be declared unacceptable if the law was enacted or obtained a number.
Yani said a new lawsuit would be filed if the law was officially registered in the State Gazette.

“We will continue to file a new lawsuit, but our lawsuit is no longer in Perppu but in the law,” Yani said when he contacted Kompas.com on Thursday (05/14/2020).
Yani understands that the Perppu that he sued was approved by the DPR.
However, until now, the regulation has not been valid because it has not been promulgated or given a number.
Since the DPR legalization process on May 12, the government has had 30 days to enact it.
This means that the judicial review process in the Constitutional Court can continue as long as the law is not applied.
“It means that the current Perppu, even though it has been enacted, still exists because it has no binding power yet,” said Yani, who is also a former member of House Commission III.

Yani hopes that the Constitutional Court can immediately finish examining the lawsuit.
