Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – The chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) criticize the steps of the president Joko Widodo which increases the rates BPJS Health when many people were affected by the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19). According to him, the measure could make the community more miserably affected by economic pressures.
“People need health insurance facilities, while the pandemic also creates an increase in unemployment and poverty rates,” AHY said through his personal Twitter account on Thursday (5/14).
“Society is like falling, falling down the stairs too,” he added.
AHY agrees that BPJS Health’s budget is still in deficit. However, that does not mean that the rate increase should be done in the middle of an outbreak like now.
According to AHY, the government may still reallocate non-urgent infrastructure development budgets to meet Rp 20 T needs for BPJS Health. Thus, it is not necessary to increase the rates.
“If all this time, infrastructure projects can be rescued in advance, the country can certainly prioritize people’s health right now,” AHY said.
AHY recalled that BPJS Health was formed so that the state was present in the provision of health services to the community. Especially in the midst of a health crisis and economic pressures in the midst of a pandemic like the current one.
“We must prioritize health insurance for the community,” he said.
Previously, Jokowi’s decision to increase the Health BPJS participation rate was contained in Presidential Regulation Number 64 Year 2020 regarding the Second Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 82 Year 2018 regarding Health Insurance. The Perpres was signed by Jokowi on May 5.
The participation rate of Mandiri class III members is expected to increase by Rp. 25,500 per participant per month at Rp. 35 thousand per participant per month or 37.25 percent in 2021 and so on.
Then, the Mandiri class II rates will increase from Rp51 thousand to Rp100 thousand per participant per month and Mandiri class I from Rp80 thousand to Rp150 thousand per participant per month from July 2020.
