YAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian Scholars Council (MUI) published a fatwa on the principle of kaffat takbir and Eid prayers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The fatwa was published on Wednesday (5/5/2020).
In the fatwa, the MUI mentioned that Eid prayers could be performed at home if one was in an area with uncontrolled spread of Covid-19.
“Eid prayers can be practiced at home in a family setting with family members or in private, especially if you are in an uncontrolled dispersal area of Covid-19,” reads sentence passage No. 28 of 2020. .

Meanwhile, if Muslims are in an area with a high level of Covid-19 transmission, Eid prayers can be performed in congregations in mosques, museums, open spaces, or other places.
The implementation of Eid prayers, both in the mosque and at home, must implement health protocols and prevent the possible transmission of Covid-19.

Legal provisions
1. Eid prayer is the law of worship which is one of the religions of the religion.
2. Eid devotional prayers are omitted for every Muslim, male or female, independent or slave, adult or child, in residence or travel (pilgrimage), in the congregation or in person.
