Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Government, through the Covid-19 Working Group for the Acceleration of Countermeasures, will allow young people under the age of 45 to be able to work or carry out activities again in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The objective is to avoid layoffs and this group is considered not vulnerable due to the bad risk of the crown.
The Palace, through the Chief of Staff Expert of the Presidential Staff Office, Donny Gahral Adian said the relaxation had yet to follow strict health protocols. He explained that, in these activities, workers must still pay attention to the health protocols that are being applied at the moment, for example, the use of masks.
“Whenever there are relaxation or exceptions, of course, strict health protocols must be followed,” Donny said. CNBC Indonesia in the Closing program (11/05/2020).
This policy was adopted to reduce the potential for termination of employment (FLE) in Indonesia. According to data from the Ministry of Human Resources, there are at least 2.08 million workers affected by layoffs due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In addition to reducing the number of layoffs, Donny assessed that this relaxation was also a step in keeping the economy moving. However, when applying relief, you still need to emphasize the precautionary principle so that the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic does not spread.
“This exception is, in effect, as a way of approaching the economy that must continue to advance, but the precautionary principle is still applied so that what happens on the ground is not an increase in the positive number of Covid-19. Now we want to suppress as low as possible so that we can get out of this crisis. ” Donny explained.
Executive Director of the Co-19 Task Force for Management Acceleration Lt. Gen. TNI Doni Monardo first revealed this policy plan. “We give this group more room for activity so that our potential layoffs are reduced,” Doni said.
Doni stressed that the group had room to return to their activities as long as they did not present symptoms of Covid-19. Furthermore, various data shows that this group is not included in the vulnerable group.
According to the Working Group’s records, only about 15% of people under the age of 45 are exposed to Covid-19. Physically, Doni continued, they look healthier than vulnerable groups.
