Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian government will allow people under the age of 45 to return to their activities amid the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic so that they do not lose their livelihoods.

This was confirmed by the Chief Executive of Task Force for Management Acceleration of 19th Army Lt. Gen. Doni Monardo at a press conference held via live stream after a limited meeting on Monday (5 / 11/2020).

“We give this group more room for activity so that our potential layoffs are reduced,” Doni said.

Doni stressed that the group had room to return to their activities as long as they did not present symptoms of Covid-19. Furthermore, various data shows that this group is not included in the vulnerable group.

According to the Working Group’s records, only about 15% of people under the age of 45 are exposed to Covid-19. Physically, Doni continued, they look healthier than vulnerable groups.

“Young people under the age of 45 are physically fit, highly mobile, and when exposed they are not necessarily sick because there are no symptoms,” Doni said.

He emphasized that this step was one of the government’s efforts to break the chain of job termination (PHK) carried out by various employers amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“All the nations of the world try to keep a balance so as not to expose themselves to viruses and layoffs. Media assistance can make efforts to socialize our nation to end this epidemic,” Doni said.
