Jakarta, CNN Indonesia – Member of the Indonesian Parliament Dedi Mulyadi submit to the request for large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in several areas stopped because it was not effective in suppressing community interaction and movement to prevent spread corona virus (Covid-19).
“The condition is now ineffective. I propose that the PSBB be replaced by RW and village-based communal quarantine,” he said on a phone line from Karawang, as reported by Between, Sunday (10/5).
The former Purwakarta regent said that through communal quarantine, in each village from the RW level, quarantine sites, guard posts, personal protective equipment, ambulances and body temperature meters were provided. It is even recommended that swab tests be performed at the RW level.
With these facilities, each RW board member closes his own area so that when someone enters their village, they are checked first.
According to Dedi, villagers are known to be independent and can take care of their own villages, build their own roads, build their own patrol posts, and even create their own systems. The community quarantine concept is now being implemented in Purwakarta.
Dedi also believes that community quarantine can be much more effective than the PSBB that is now applied in various districts / cities.
The Golkar Party politician said the PSBB was ineffective because there were a series of central government policies that loosened transport.
The facilitation of transportation makes people’s interactions higher and higher. In fact, Dedi continued, PSBB aims to reduce the number of people who interact between individuals and between regions.
He also highlighted car traffic that still managed to pass the checkpoint. Dedi said strict surveillance was only done at certain times.
Also, according to Dedi, PSBB is not effective because the rules are too long and long, so it has an economic and social impact on the community. On the other hand, there are conflicting policies, namely PSBB and loss of transportation. Conditions that confuse people.
“The economic sector will stop if PSBB policy takes too long,” Dedi said.
From his observations, Dedi said that the PSBB policy was not completely obeyed by the community. Like an open store, but another store closes. People crowd into a store that is open, and that means there is no PSBB to suppress human interaction.
Another reason that PSBB has become ineffective is that politics actually triggers social problems due to uneven and misdirected social assistance.
“Instead of being unclear, just stop the PSBB, because it confuses people with strange regulations,” Dedi said.
He added that another impact of the PSBB was to make the authorities bored when they watched the checkpoints, so that they felt easily emotional when faced with a rebel community. But on the other hand, people are also bored because they do not have the freedom to travel. (Enter / wis)
