Palembang (ANTARA) – Banyuasin’s regency has been designated as a new state in the COVID-19 red zone in South Sumatra, so in the province, which has 17 districts and cities, it has grown to five with that state.
“Banyuasin’s regency has become a red zone state because local transmission has been found even though positive people have only reached 15 cases,” said Task Force COVID-19 spokesperson for South Sumatra. for Yusri in Palembang on Sunday.
He explained that the Banyuasin transmission had occurred between the second generation and the third generation and met the criteria for local transmission.
With the addition of a new red zone state (Banyuasin Regency), it means that the red zone area in South Sumatra as of May 10, 2020 consisted of the city of Palembang with 150 cases, Lubuklinggau 35 cases, Banyuasin 15 cases, Prabumulih 13 cases and OKU (red zone) 11 cases.

Total cases in the five red zones reached 224 cases or 80 percent of the 278 cases in southern Sumatra on May 10, so the task force asked people in the five regions to be vigilant and comply with the government’s call.
The South Sumatra working group asked health workers in the red zone to speed up the monitoring of people who came into contact with positive cases, then those people had to be quarantined in a special place, either at home or in a government quarantine place while they were waiting for the swab test results.
“Make sure the person in quarantine doesn’t come out and, if possible, your family can, but they need help to make their charisma effective,” he added.

The form of assistance consisted primarily of food and support to neighbors, he said, in this case the district / city task force played a role in ensuring that the food needs of quarantined people were met until they were declared safe from COVID-19.
Furthermore, regional red zone stakeholders should be firm in monitoring the mobilization of communities within the region and between regions, taking into account that 70 percent of positive cases of COVID-19 in South Sumatra show no signs or people without symptoms (OTG).
“So the most important thing is the awareness of wearing masks, the community must get used to wearing masks because that is the best effort that can be made at this time,” said Yusri.
