ALONE – The death of former TNI Commander General (Ret.) Djoko Santoso surprised families living in the city of Solo. Because before he died, his condition was still healthy.

Djoko Santoso is the first child of nine brothers. He was born from a modest family living in Kampung Baru, Pasar Kliwon District, Solo. The man born on September 8, 1952 is the son of the Djoko Suyono-Surani couple. Her father is a teacher and her mother in daily life as a housewife.

The house in Kampung Baru, Pasarkliwon Solo sub-district is the home of Djoko Santoso’s parents. From childhood to high school, Djoko Santoso grew up in this house. Djoko Santoso’s military career began after he entered the Military Academy (Akmil) and graduated in 1975. “Once he graduated, he was immediately assigned to East Timor,” he said.

Djoko Santoso attends Siswo Mangkunegaran Solo Elementary School. He then continued his education in SMP Negeri 2 Surakarta, which used to be in the Mangkunegaran area. After graduating, I went to school at Surakarta 1 Public High School.

For Tutik, the figure of his brother had a character that protected his younger brothers. When a mischievous person annoys his younger siblings, he defends himself immediately. “Even in old age, very concerned about his younger siblings,” he said. During school, her brother was known to be very curious but had an intelligent brain. So that the average teacher remembers the figure of the student. In everyday life, his parents instill high discipline.
Djoko Santoso’s friends used to come to the house to study together. Her parents are also very disciplined in terms of education. Her father often sweeps through revised textbooks one by one. If there is a lesson that is not done, then punishment awaits. “My father is a strict type, but the mother is very gentle and patient,” he said.

Entering the military world is Djoko Santoso’s dream. She wants to help her parents remember her younger siblings a lot. After becoming a soldier to the peak of his career as a TNI Commander, Djoko Santoso still often returned to Solo. He remained humble with the people in his homeland. “If you meet the neighbors here, keep waving, don’t be picky about people,” he said.

Djoko goes home when his parents are impressed or stops when there is service to Solo or the surrounding area. After retiring, Djoko Santoso also often returned home to Solo at the same time as certain events. “The person is quiet, it doesn’t say much,” he said.
