COVID-19 symptoms are always associated with high fever, fatigue, cough, and shortness of breath. However, the more massive the virus spreads, the more diverse are the symptoms experienced by patients for other symptoms to appear.
According to the New York Post report, this malignant microorganism is capable of causing other problems that could warn doctors that something is wrong. Neurologists have discovered that some COVID-19 patients experience confusion.
Additionally, cardiologists transporting people suspected of COVID-19 suffered a heart attack to the catheterization lab and found no blockages. And many doctors have noted that COVID-19 patients experience a loss of the ability to smell and taste spontaneously.
Well, on top of all that, it turns out that there are other symptoms of COVID-19 that are not well known to the public, not even medical personnel. This was transmitted by dermatologists from the organization of the National Union of Dermatologists-Venereologists (SNDV) of France.
In Le Figaro’s report, he says, skin manifestations including pseudo-freezing, itching, and persistent redness of the skin are associated with COVID-19. The sudden onset of redness can be painful and the dermatologist sees the appearance of lesions due to transient urticaria.
This research was carried out virtually. SNDV then organized the WhatsApp discussion group consisting of more than 400 professionals working in the private sector or for the public health system in France. Skin lesions that may not be associated with other typical signs of COVID-19, such as respiratory problems, stand out.
In fact, not all COVID-19 patients have complications, and many may not even have respiratory problems while their immune systems are fighting the virus. Research has shown that COVID-19 patients who do not experience any symptoms can still infect others and should isolate themselves to reduce the spread of new coronaviruses.
“Analysis of many cases reported to SNDV shows that this manifestation can be attributed to COVID-19,” said SNDV. “We warn the public and the medical profession to screen these potentially infectious patients as quickly as possible,” he continued.
Doctors advise patients to consult if they experience such symptoms.
Meanwhile, the French Director-General for Health, Jérôme Salomon, said he was unaware of any scientific reports on dermatological symptoms in COVID-19 cases. But he added, this is new information that must be continuously investigated.
If you experience any skin problems, feel free to contact a doctor. Not only because it is likely to be COVID-19, but because all dermatological problems should be treated independently of other medical conditions.
