Ambon, Tribun-Maluku.com: Spokesperson (spokesperson) Working Group (Gustu) Accelerating the management of COVID-19 Ambon City, Joy Adriaansz explained the procedures for the management of patients in the hospital related to the COVID-19 protocol.
Adriaansz said the procedure was already in place in Ambon City. Dr. RSU Haulussy has issued a circular regarding the procedure for managing patients who attend an exam or are referred to the emergency room with symptoms of co-19.
“This cannot be separated from Ambon City’s condition, that a local transmission of the COVID-19 spread has occurred,” it said in Ambon, Friday (5/1/2020).
In the circular explained, a patient who arrived with throat problems such as cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, sore throat, and fever, will be admitted directly to the emergency room.
“The patient will immediately complete the COVID-19 screening form and have a blood test and rapid test,” said Adriaansz.
Automatically, the patient is ODP or PDP. As with the initial examination results, the patient is negative, then the patient can undergo independent isolation outpatient treatment and must report to the Ambon City Health Office.
“If the patient is PDP, he will be treated immediately in an isolation room and an x-ray will be taken there, and if the initial test results are positive, the patient will take a swab test,” he explained.
In addition, patients whose negative test results are negative will continue to follow the procedure for the second rapid test 10 days after the first rapid test.
Regarding the patients who died while on treatment, the spokesperson explained that the procedure was implemented according to the COVID-19 protocol.
As happened some time ago, Jubir continued, a patient who experienced respiratory problems due to congenital diseases, asthma and pulmonary tuberculosis. When taken to a public hospital, the patient was defenseless and died in the hospital.
He explained that when the patient referred to the Hospital, his complaint resembled the complaints of patients with COVID-19, so the COVID-19 treatment procedures were applied.
A rapid test was performed on the patient and the results were positive, but the rapid test did not ensure that a patient was COVID-19 positive. Swab test samples have been taken to determine the cause of death in question and the results may only be known in the coming days.
For patients, the funeral process has been carried out using the protap COVID-19.
“This is a step taken by the hospital to anticipate carrying out a funeral procedure in accordance with the COVID-19 protocol, starting with the preparation of his body to the burial place that the government has prepared,” the spokesperson added.
To take into account, the management procedures according to the COVID-19 Protocol are carried out to prevent and anticipate the early spread of COVID-19 in vulnerable areas and have been affected by local transmission.
The rapid test is an initial test performed to anticipate early spread, but not a specific test to ensure that a patient is positive for COVID-19, because a specific test to confirm a positive COVID-19 is a swab test.
