8 Indonesian Army Soldiers Become Suspects in Burning Case at Intan Jaya Health Service House, Papua

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian Army Military Police Center (Puspomad) named eight Army soldiers as suspects in the fire at the health service house in Hitadipa district, Intan Jaya, Papua on Saturday (11/19/2020 ).

The determination of this suspect was based on the results of the investigation and investigation of the Joint Investigation Team of the Military Army and the XVII / Cendrawasih Regional Military Command on 12 people, made up of 11 Army soldiers and a civilian.

“Based on the results of the examination of witnesses and evidence, the investigators concluded and named eight people as suspects,” said Puspomad commander, Lieutenant General Dodik Widjanarko at a press conference on Thursday (12/11/2020) .

The eight suspects include Captain Inf SA, Letda Inf KT, Serda MFA, Serda S, Serda ISF, Kopda DP, Pratu MI, and Prada MH.

Dodik said that the Joint Investigation Team of the Indonesian Army and the XVII / Cendrawasih Regional Military Command is now trying to complete the case files for the suspects to take to the Jayapura Military Investigator III-19.

“If it meets the formal and material requirements, it will be immediately delegated to Oditor Jayapura Military III-19,” Dodik said.

In addition, Dodik said, the fire at the health office house caused a loss of 1.3 billion rupees.

In return, the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General TNI Andika Perkasa, will rebuild the health service house to its original state.

As a result of their actions, the suspects were charged under article 187 (1) of the Penal Code regarding arson and article 55 (1) of the Penal Code regarding assistance offenses.

It is known that the fire at the health office house in Hitadipa district was included in the Komnas HAM investigation report some time ago.

Based on the Komnas HAM findings, there were two witnesses who saw the fire and smoke as well as the remaining embers from the scene of the health office house fire.
