Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
Right at 00.00 WIB tomorrow (10/13) Apple will launch its next-generation iPhone. Apple will present iPhone 12 which will bring several changes compared to previous years.
Here are 8 major changes that have made the iPhone 12 a calculus for mobile device users, including those still using Android.
1. iPhone 12 is available in four variants
The iPhone 12 is anticipated to come in four variants: iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Mini. Previously, the iPhone 11 only came in three variants.
Not to mention that the iPhone has released the latest iPhone SE (2020) as another option. This means that users can have many options among more iPhone variants than usual.
2. New screen size
The base variant, possibly dubbed the iPhone 12 Mini, is rumored to have a 5.4-inch screen. The next model, called the iPhone 12, is expected to have a 6.1-inch screen.
Then there is the iPhone 12 Pro, which can also be 6.1 inches in size but with better specs. Finally, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is rumored to have a 6.7-inch screen.
In comparison, the iPhone 11 has a 6.1-inch screen, the 5.8-inch iPhone 11 Pro, and the 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Pro Max.
So if the rumors are true, then Apple will release the biggest iPhone with the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max and the smallest screen iPhone in years with the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 Mini.
3. Two cheaper options
The additional iPhone models also mean that there should be two relatively inexpensive options to choose from. The iPhone 11 only has 1 budget phone as of 2019.
This year, it is estimated that there is an iPhone 12 Mini and the iPhone 12 will have the most minimal prices. This iPhone will be the choice for anyone who doesn’t need specs or can’t afford the Pro variant.
Some leaks even suggest that the iPhone 12 Mini can start from as low as $ 649 or around Rs 9.5 million.
4. New cipset
Apple will equip the iPhone with the A14 Bionic chipset, which has been dipped into the iPad Air 4 (2020). Initial benchmark results for the chipset show that it is 20 percent faster than the A13 Bionic found in the iPhone 11.
5. New color
The new unique color of the iPhone has proven to be very attractive to buyers. The iPhone 11, which comes in a new green color, is doing well in the market. This time around, the iPhone 12 is likely to get two new colors, namely navy or dark blue.
However, some rumors claim that this color is only available for iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. But it is also possible that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Mini variants will get a new and different color.
6. 120Hz display
There are still many rumors as to which variant of the iPhone 12 will have a 120Hz display. But more recently it was reported that a 120Hz display is only available on the iPhone 12 Pro Max variant.
The 120Hz refresh rate can make movements feel smoother, so interacting with the phone as a whole feels smoother and faster. This 120Hz display has been widely used by various Android phones, but not a single iPhone has used this feature yet.
7. LiDAR scanner
A major new feature rumored for the iPhone 12 lineup is the presence of a LiDAR (Light and Range Detection) scanner. However, this feature may not be available for all iPhone variants, perhaps only iPhone 12 Pro Max or both iPhone 12 Pro variants.
LiDAR scanner is a feature that is already on the iPad Pro 2020. This feature is basically an advanced method of assessing depth and distance that enables better portrait mode and augmented reality experiences on iPhone 12.
8. The first 5G iPhone
5G phones have become a new trend for providers. However, so far no iPhone has a 5G cell phone. Although there is no 5G network in Indonesia, mobile phones that support 5G offer high internet speeds in countries with 5G networks.
Most rumors suggest that all major models will support 5G, although there may be some 4G versions as well. Reporting from Tech Radar, the addition of 5G will allow users to take advantage of cellular data speeds as fast as possible.
