5 Mandiri Bankers switching to BNI, this is what Royke Tumilaar says

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk on Wednesday (02/09/2020) decided to elect the Chairman Director (Dirut) of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) Royke Tumilaar as President Director of BNI replace Herry Sidharta.

In addition to Royke, there are four other Bank Mandiri bankers who are also directors of BNI, namely Silvano Rumantir, Director of Corporate Banking at BNI. Previously, Silvano was Chief Financial Officer of Bank Mandiri.

Silvano has had a long career in foreign banks, namely HSBC and Deutsche Bank.


Then there is David Pirzada, who serves as BNI’s Director of Risk Management. Before joining Bank Mandiri, David Pirzada worked at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ. At Bank Mandiri, his last job was as Senior Vice President of Wholesale Risk.

In addition, there is Muhammad Iqbal as Business Director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) of BNI. His last job at Bank Mandiri was like Senior Vice President of Small and Medium Business Banking.

Finally, Novita Widya Anggraini who was appointed Chief Financial Officer of BNI. Her last position at Bank Mandiri was Senior Vice President of Strategy and Performance Management.

At EGMS, only four BNI directors remained, namely Adi Sulistiowaty, who was appointed Deputy Director of the President, Sis Apik Wijayanto, Director of Institutional Relations, Director of Information Technology and Operations YB Hariantono and Director of Human Capital and Compliance Bob Ananta.

In addition, there were two BNI bankers who were promoted as directors, namely Henry Panjaitan as Director of Treasury and International Affairs and Ronny Vennir as Director of Services and Networks.

At a press conference, Royke said that he could not say much, considering that this decision was a decision of the shareholders, in this case the Ministry of BUMN.

For that, he added, he will not make many changes to the old strategy and will adjust to the expectations of stakeholders, including employees.

As is well known, he said, BNI is expected to become a bank with an international business scope, including being the main benchmark and correspondent bank for foreign institutions / investors / banks.

To become such a bank, corporate action is needed to increase BNI’s assets, both organic and inorganic, so that the acceleration to become a global bank can be done quickly.

“For that, we request the support of all BNI staff, all stakeholders, including colleagues, in order to ensure our performance so that it can meet the expectations of all parties, including shareholders,” he said.
