44 citizens dead, 7 missing

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that the victim died as a result Flash floods and landslide from Timur Flowers, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) reached 44 people. The note was updated on Sunday (4/4) at 3pm WIB.

The head of the BNPB’s Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Raditya Jati, said the victims were distributed in three villages. The BNPB and several state institutions are still updating the data on the ground.

“38 people died in Lamanele Village, 3 people died in Waiburak Village, 3 people died in Oyang Village. A total of 44 people died, 7 disappeared in data collection,” Raditya said in a written statement on Sunday (4 / 4 ).

BNPB is still recording the number of injured victims from the various affected villages. Meanwhile, it is confirmed that 49 heads of families have been affected by this incident.

Raditya said that currently 7 people were declared missing after the incident. They all come from the town of Waiburak.

BNPB also posted material losses. So far, BNPB has reported that residential settlements were washed away by flooding, dozens of homes in Lamanele Village were buried in the mud, and bridges in Waiburak Village were broken.

Raditya said several related agencies had limited meetings and set up a position. It was reported that several district-level officials would go directly to the disaster site.

“The team made up of the regent, TNI, Polri, Assistant 1, BPBD, Social Service, PUPR Service, Satpol PP, Health Service, Environment Service, Agriculture and Food Safety Service, Plantation and Livestock Service, Division of Public Relations, DPRD members We are currently traveling by sea, in 30 minutes we will arrive at the place and immediately report the current status ”, he said.

Previously, several villages in the East Flores Regency were affected by flash floods. The incident took place around 01.00 WIB this morning.

BNPB said the flash floods occurred due to heavy rains that hit eastern Flores in recent hours. Until now, the local government is still trying to manage the disaster at the site.
