A total of four companies in the unit Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police and the Indonesian Army (TNI) were deployed to the site of the demonstration that ended in chaos nickel refining plant, Morosi District, Regency Konawe.

Regarding the demonstration that ended in chaos yesterday, Fery said that several factory facilities were set on fire by the masses, including the PT VDNI guard post.
Still, the police have yet to fully record the amount of heavy equipment, both dump trucks and excavators, burned by the masses.

In addition to data collection, the general criminal investigator’s police were dispatched to carry out criminal investigations by the protesters.

He said the perpetrators could be subject to articles related to mass gatherings and article 170 of the Penal Code on joint vandalism.
Fery said the escalation of the fighting was rapid and uncontrollable. On the other hand, security forces were deployed to secure the elections.
“Our members are still securing the pilkada. We will draw one by one to be deployed there,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Manager of External Affairs of PT VDNI Indrayanto did not want to provide information about the confrontation until the burning at the factory site ended.

Based on the information obtained CNNIndonesia.com, the protesters who held the rally were Konawe Regency Workforce Protection and Union (SPTK) which joined the Regional Executive Board of the Southeast Sulawesi National Trade Union Federation.
They asked the company for clarity on the specific working time contract (PKWT) of VDNI employees with a working period of more than 36 months, to be appointed as permanent employees in PT VDNI.
They also require a salary increase for workers who have worked for more than one year in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) Number 78 of 2015 Article 42.
