KOMPAS.com – Up to 179 students from state professional high schools (SMKN) in Central Java have been exposed to Covid-19.
Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo also called for a temporary halt to the implementation of face-to-face learning testing in schools.
Furthermore, according to the president of the Central Java Regional Representative Council (DPRD), the case was revealed after several students experienced symptoms of fever, cough and anosmia.
After a swab test, the results showed positive infection.

1. Students who start out with a fever and cough
According to the president of the Central Java DPRD, Bambang Kisriyanto, there were initially 8 students who experienced symptoms of cough, fever and anosmia.
The officers then immediately tested the students and the results were 27 students positive for Covid-19.
After tracking and evaluating 196 students, the Java Central Health Service found that 152 people were exposed to Covid-19.
“Today’s result added 152 students who tested positive for Covid-19. So a total of 179 people tested positive. Five people have been declared cured, only 174 students are still in treatment,” he said.

2. Wait for the vaccine
After the incident, Bambang asked the school to be patient with face-to-face learning tests.
He asked for face-to-face learning in schools pending the availability of vaccines.
“I ask to be patient first, not to bother to prioritize the safety of students and teachers. This is also to suppress the positive numbers in Central Java so they do not skyrocket,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ganjar admitted that he had received a report related to the case.
He also called for the face-to-face learning tests to be stopped.
“I still do not know the final list. In Central Java Vocational High School (SMKN) there were those who were exposed. I reviewed it with the teacher, we have closed it.
