French products are still sold in Indonesian mini-markets. However, calls for a boycott of French products are getting louder. Here are the facts:
1. Request for boycott of MUI
The Ulema Council of Indonesia (MUI) called for a boycott of French products. This follows French President Emmanuel Macron’s stance on his defense of the cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.

This store does not appear to be boycotting French products like the stores that boycotted and went viral. The arrangement of the items on display as usual. French products such as Aqua drinking water, SGM milk and Garnier appear on the shelves.
Not far from the mini-market is Alfamidi. Also, the products sold are not very different from the previous Alfamart.
3. 212 Mart also continues to sell French products
French products are also still for sale at 212 Mart, Rawa Belong, West Jakarta. According to detikcom tracking, there are still products promoted as French products, such as Aqua milk and SGM.
Merchants admit that the owner does not indicate that they do not sell these products. “I haven’t said anything yet. There aren’t many here, just Aqua milk and SGM,” he said.
When asked about the need to boycott French products, he did not question it. According to him, it depends on the owner of the store.
“For me it is fine. I only work here according to his mother,” he added.

This company was founded for the first time in 1973 by Tirto Utomo under the name of PT Golden Mississippi. Its first factory is in Pondok Ungu, Bekasi, West Java. Meanwhile, Danone itself is a French-based food and beverage producer.
