KOMPAS.com – The delay in the arrival of 500 foreign workers (TKA) from China is a major problem for PT Virtue Dragon Nickel Industry (VDNI) and PT Obsidian Stainless Steel (OSS).
As a result of the delay in the arrival of Chinese foreign workers, including the construction of foundries at companies located in the Konawe Regency, Sulawesi Southeast (Sulawesi Southeast) is now forced to stop due to lack of experience.
PT VDNI Indrayanto’s External Affairs Manager said that the TKA was originally to operate on 33 foundry stoves owned by PT OSS.
The smelting furnace is said to be able to absorb thousands of local workers.
As for hiring thousands of employees, according to him, the hiring process has now been completed.
“If 500 Chinese foreign workers do not enter, up to 3,000 more local workers are at risk of losing their jobs,” Indrayanto said in a written statement to Kompas.com, Monday (05/11/2020).

“There is a possibility that they will be fired without receiving a salary, or even layoffs. Of course we do not expect this, the company is also trying to prevent this from happening,” he continued.
He further said that the 500 Chinese TKAs were technical workers who worked temporarily and not for long.
Its function is to install tools in the foundry furnace for production.
“After they do the installation, they will return to China. The longest is three months, a maximum of six months, the experts work longer for 6 months, if it can be faster, for example 3 months finished, they immediately leave home, “said Indrayanto.
“However, with consideration of the Permenhub issue No. 25 2020 and requests from relevant agencies to postpone the plan, on April 24, 2020, the company decided to postpone the arrival of the TKA,” he said.

Earlier, the Southeast Sulawesi Governor Ali Mazi rejected the arrival of foreign workers from China because it was a crown pandemic.
“The kebatinan environment, we have not received it yet. Yes, we have postponed it,” Ali Mazi said last week.
