“The results of the profiling and there are indications that these illegal items are being used to finance terrorism in the Middle East,” Polda Metro Public Relations Chief Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said on Wednesday (12/23/2020). at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta.

According to Yusri, the hundreds of kilograms of crystalline methamphetamine evidence revealed in Petamburan on Tuesday (12/22) came from the same union as the one that was arrested in January 2020.

It should be noted that in January 2020, the joint team of Polda Metro Jaya and the Police Headquarters discovered the circulation of 288 kilograms of crystalline methamphetamine in Serpong. Several months later, the joint team managed to discover 800 kilograms of crystalline methamphetamine in Serang, Banten.

“This is an international network from the Middle East. This is the same network development that we revealed in January 2020 around 288 kilograms in Serpong, then 800 kilograms in Serang Banten. The code is the same, that is, 555,” he explained Yusri.

Regarding the financing of terrorism in the Middle East, Yusri said that his party was still investigating whether the group was related to the terrorist ring in Indonesia.

“What is clear here is the indication that the international network is being used to finance terrorism in Central Timor. I will reiterate that there are allegations here with the terrorism network in Indonesia. We are still exploring and developing it,” Yusri said.
