KOMPAS.com – Archaeologists in Italy recently found the bodies of two men who were victims of the eruption of Vesuvius about 2,000 years ago in the ancient Roman city of Pompeii.

Reporting from Associated PressJudging from the skull and teeth, one of the men was estimated to be between 18 and 25 years old when he died.

Archaeologists think that he is a slave doing manual labor because it is seen from his spine that it is quite compressed.

The second man’s body was probably between 30 and 40 years old when he died. This remnant appears to have a coat on his left shoulder in addition to a tunic.

The Director General for Archeology of the Italian Ministry of Culture, Massimo Osanna, said the two bodies were found in a side room along an underground corridor or passage.

The crypt was known in Roman antiquity as cryptoporticus.

“Victims may have sought refuge in cryptoporticus, in this basement, where they think they are better protected, “said Osanna.

Given the impression that the folds of the cloth were left in the ash cloak, the younger man’s body seemed to be wearing a short, pleated tunic, probably made of wool.
