JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said there were two reasons why the DKI Jakarta provincial government did not disperse the crowd at the wedding of Rizieq Shihab’s daughter in Petamburan, central Jakarta, on Saturday (11/14/ 2020).

Large crowds are currently banned due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Riza said the first reason was that a forced disbandment would cause a lot of physical contact between the officers and the masses at the scene.

“The first will be physical contact, then the spread of the corona virus is possible,” Riza said at the Mata Najwa Trans7 event on Wednesday.

Second, he said, there is the possibility of widespread conflict if the event dissolves. The reason is that there are thousands of people in that place.

“The two could become a conflict, in fact there is a shirt, that’s not good either. So what kind of situation is being done, mitigation and prevention,” he said.

That is why the call to keep distance and distribute masks was a wise choice at the event.

Riza explained that the DKI Jakarta provincial government does not have the authority to dismiss an event. This is not regulated in the regional laws and regulations of DKI Jakarta.

“So there is nothing in the Governor’s regulation that we can dissolve, what we are doing is filing an appeal as a letter, then closing the seal,” he said.

Because the Rizieq Shihab event was not in a hotel or restaurant that could be closed or sealed, Satpol PP coordinated with those who had the authority to break up the event.

However, due to the consideration of the above two things, in the end the event did not dissolve.

“At that time, the Satpol PP coordinated with the security forces there to take action. What is being done cannot be dissolved,” he said.

The crowd involving the leader of the FPI mass organizations, Rizieq Shihab, and his supporters last week did not happen once.

As soon as Rizieq arrived from Saudi Arabia at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, on Tuesday last week, crowds erupted. The crowd that day continued at Jalan KS Tubun around Petamburan, around Rizieq’s residence.

The crowds re-occurred when FPI held a birthday activity for Prophet Muhammad SAW in Tebet, South Jakarta, last Friday.

Finally, on Saturday night, when Rizieq Shihab held a wedding ceremony for his daughter, he invited a large crowd of people in Petamburan. At that time, I married his daughter, Sharifa Najwa Shihab, and also performed a memorial for the Prophet’s birthday.
