Tottenham Hotspur is the best in North London right now. Facing their rivals, Arsenal, in week 11 of the Premier League, José Mourinho’s squad managed to win 2-0.

At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (6/12/2020), the hosts scored three points thanks to goals from Son Heung-min (13 ‘) and Harry Kane (45 + 1’).

These results led Tottenham to the top of the standings with 24 points. As for Arsenal, this defeat placed them in 15th place with 13 points.

The course of the match

The hosts got their first chance with an Eric Dier free kick in the 3rd minute, but they missed the mark. Three minutes later, it was Arsenal’s turn to attack for Bukayo Saka, but his shot from outside the area also missed the net.

Arsenal’s pressure continued in the 11th minute. Thomas Partey fired from a distance, but to no avail.

OBJECTIVE! Tottenham took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Harry Kane started a counterattack by hurling long-range comments at Son Heung-min. The South Korean attacker dribbled the ball briefly, then fired a curly shot that lodged in the right corner of Arsenal’s goal guarded by Bernd Leno.

Leading a goal, Tottenham continued to attack. Pierre-Emile Hoejbjerg nearly doubled the lead in the 26th minute, if only his shot hadn’t gone straight into Leno’s arms.

Alexandre Lacazette had a chance to equalize in the 44th minute, but his free kick was still a winger on the right side of Tottenham’s goal.

OBJECTIVE! Tottenham added a goal in the first half of injury time. Giovani Lo Celso counterattacked, then found Son, who then passed it to Kane in the area. With a strong shot, he managed to break into Arsenal’s goal.

The first half closed with Tottenham’s 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Arsenal tried to find a quick goal. Lacazette had another chance in the 47th minute, but his header was secured by Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Two minutes later, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s header continued to soar above Tottenham’s goal.

Willian also threatened Tottenham’s goal in the 62nd minute. Still, kicking with his left foot failed to produce a goal either. Meanwhile, in the 68th minute, Lacazette’s header was again countered by Lloris.

Without much attack in the second half, Tottenham’s new opportunity was created in the 81st minute. With a free kick, Son finds Kane but his header goes wide to the left of the net.

In the 84th minute, Arsenal attacked again. Aubameyang successfully received Lacazette’s pass, but the Gabon forward’s shot was blocked by Toby Alderweireld, who was already waiting for him.

Until the game ended, Tottenham’s 2-0 score remained unchanged.
