JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Covid-19 Management Working Group spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito responded to the highest daily record of Covid-19 cases, which was recorded at 14,224 on Saturday (1/16/2021).
Wiku emphasized that these logs cannot be tolerated.
“In the past week, the increase in daily cases from 9,000 to 10,000 was a very high number. But it turns out that this week we have seen an increase in daily cases of up to 14,000 cases,” Wiku said in a virtual press conference broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat, on Tuesday (1/19/2021).
“This cannot and cannot be tolerated,” he continued.

According to Wiku, the increase in this case was contributed by the five regions with the highest positive cases of Covid-19.
The five are West Java, DKI Jakarta, Central Java, Bali, and South Sulawesi.
Wiku said that West Java this week saw an increase in cases of 4,929.
“As a comparison, West Java last week increased by 2,196 cases in one week. This means that there is now an addition of worse cases marked by a doubling of cases,” he explained.
Wiku also mentioned that another cause of the increase in cases was data on positive Covid-19 cases from regions that arrived late to the center.
Eventually, the data accumulates and causes a large increase.
Last week, Indonesia recorded the largest increase in daily Covid-19 cases for four consecutive days.
This condition occurs from Wednesday (1/13/2021) to Saturday (1/16/2021).
According to Kompas.com news logs, on Wednesday of last week there were 11,278 new cases of Covid-19 that occurred within 24 hours.
This number is the highest on record after the addition of daily Covid-19 cases that exceed 10,000.
Then, on Thursday (1/14/2021), 11,557 new cases of Covid-19 were registered over 24 hours.
