JAKARTA, iNews.id – The Board of Ranks and Senior Officials (Wanjakti) has selected 10 three-star generals as candidates for chief of police. These names are also controlled by the National Police Commission (Kompolnas).
Commissioner of the National Police Commissioner Poengky Indarti said that several names continued to mature that could replace the chief of the National Police, General Idham Azis. Kompolnas is in the process of defining who is considered the most appropriate.
“Kompolnas will soon present the names of the candidates for head of the National Police in the near future. Because the target time has been determined,” Poengky said on Sunday (12/20/2020).
Poengky explained that Idham Azis would be retiring in early February 2021. According to Law No. 2 of 2002 concerning the Indonesian National Police (Polri Law), Article 38, paragraph 1, letter b, Kompolnas is tasked with considering the President in the appointment and removal of the Chief of the National Police.
In relation to Article 11.6 of the National Police Law, candidates for Chief of National Police are senior officers (pati) of the Indonesian National Police who remain in service with due regard to professional ranks .
“Therefore, later when we consider the president we will refer to article 11 subsection (6) of Law number 2 of 2002,” said Poengky.
He explained that what is understood by ranks is the principle of seniority in the sense of having the highest rank in charge of the Chief of the National Police. Meanwhile, what is understood by career path is the experience of assigning a candidate for Chief of the National Police in various fields of the police profession or in various police positions.
