Zomato’s Twitter thread reveals some fun facts about India’s food ordering habits.

Zomato has shared a 2020 roundup thread on Twitter, revealing how and what the Indians ordered this year. The Twitter thread, which contains some fun facts about the country’s food ordering habits, also looks at some of the biggest memes and trends this year. Since “Rasode mein kaun tha?“For the viral bulldog meme, everyone is mentioned in the Zomato thread, as the restaurant aggregator and the food delivery platform share some interesting insights about the country’s food preferences.

According to the Zomato report, the largest number of orders this year were placed by one Yash from Bengaluru. Yash ordered food 1,380 times this year, nearly four orders a day.

The largest order placed in Zomato this year was worth almost 2 lakh rupees. That is expensive food! On the other hand, the smallest order was 10 rupees, and the user managed to get a discount of 39 rupees in addition!

In the year defined by the coronavirus pandemic, the world saw an increase in home cooking. But that didn’t stop Delhi’s love affair with the momos. Delhi ordered more momos than Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune combined.

Biryani was once again the most requested dish: this year, Zomato delivered an order of biryani every 22 minutes. Meanwhile, Veg Biryani received 1,988,094 orders in 2020.

In Jalgaon, Maharashtra, a Zomato user ordered 369 pizzas. And across the country, pizza orders jumped from around 4.5 lakh in May to a whopping 17 lakh in November.
