The data revealed that Indians are ordering pizzas and biryani in large quantities at food delivery platforms.

“Curfews in various cities, aimed at keeping people indoors and safe, will further drive demand for food delivery tonight. I strongly urge our customers to order early if possible and not wait until the last minute, “Goyal said.

In another tweet, Goyal wrote: “OPM 3,500. There is 1 lakh of live ordering right now. 1 lakh of food deliveries in transit right now, between kitchens and bikes. Never seen this before.”

Goyal, at the end of his live tweet session, revealed that the OPM had logged 4,100.

The Disaster Management Authority of Delhi on Thursday ordered the imposition of a night curfew in the national capital on December 31 and January 1 from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The Odisha government imposed a statewide night curfew from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday to restrict New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Zomato said Wednesday that it delivered 22 biryanis per minute in 2020.

The number of pizza orders also rose sharply over the months, as Zomato data showed that from 4.5 lakh of pizza orders in May, the numbers skyrocketed to more than 17 lakh of orders in November.
