Zee5’s movie stars Arjun Rampal and Manav Kaul in a cat and mouse game

Bhargava Krishna mistakes Nail polish strikes a careful balance by portraying the sensational judgment of a man suspected of being a rapist and child murderer and an unforeseen transformation of the self. Bhargava Krishna’s script is clever enough to prevent the plot from being fully revealed. To do so would be to break the suspense of whether the charismatic coach Veer (Manav Kaul) is really guilty of the heinous crimes for which he has landed in jail.

Prosecutor Amit (Anand Tiwari) presents a pile of evidence against Veer. Amit also hints that Veer is behind a series of similar crimes in the past, but Judge Bhushan (Rajit Kapur) asks him to stick with the current case: Did Veer imprison, rape and kill two young children?

On the defense side is Sidharth (Arjun Rampal), who is hired by a voice on the phone for reasons that remain tenuous. Sidharth expertly takes down the mountain of evidence against Veer, but even he has to pause when Veer gives him his biggest surprise yet.

The original Zee5 film, which it claims to be based on true events, drifts back and forth as it patiently and methodically moves towards its unconventional ending.

In addition to the modest performances of Arjun Rampal and Manav Kaul, the film has a cameo from Madhoo Shah as Shobha, the judge’s alcoholic wife. There is no point in being sober, Shobha declares.

The biggest turn in Nail polish it actually emanates from the contained narrative and the general lack of hysteria. Bhargava Krishna lulls us into thinking that we are watching one type of movie while actually delivering another: a change that goes beyond what is seen in the movie.
