Yuvraj Singh, former world champion from India, will come out of retirement and return to playing national cricket after being included in Punjab’s top 30 list for next month’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.
Yuvraj, the star of India’s 2011 World Cup winning campaign, had announced his retirement last June but decided to resume play for his home state after the secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association Puneet Bali , will approach him.
The 39-year-old left-handed hitter, who has played 304 ODI, 40 Tests and 58 T20I for India, has been training at the PCA Stadium in Mohali and also posted a video of his preparations on social media.
Yuvraj had participated in the Global T20 league in Canada after his retirement.
Additionally, left-arm closer Barinder Sran, who was kicked out of Punjab’s Vijay Hazare Trophy team, prompting him to move to Chandigarh last year, has been included on the probable list.
BCCI plans to host the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the T20 national championship, starting on January 10, the venues of which will be declared later.
The tournament will take place in biosecurity and the teams must meet at their respective bases before January 2.

Sreesanth among Kerala probable
Former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth on Tuesday approached a return to competitive cricket after being included on a 26-person likely list by Kerala for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament.
Sreesanth, 37, who was banned by the BCCI for his alleged involvement in the IPL point settlement, appears alongside Sanju Samson, Sachin Baby, Jalaj Saxena, Robin Uthaapa and Basil Thampi, among others.
The T20 tournament is scheduled to begin on January 2.
Its ban ended in September this year.
The pacemaker, who last represented India in 2011, will take part in a preparatory camp to be held here from December 20-30, the sources said.
Sreesanth, who was part of the triumphant Indian teams at the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup, was previously named to one of the teams for a local T20 tournament to be held by the Kerala Cricket Association in Alappuzha at starting December 17.
The COVID-19 pandemic has delayed the national season and the T20 tournament will mark the start of the 2020-21 season.
