Yuvraj Singh hopes for quick resolution of farmers’ problems, distances himself from his father’s comments

“As a proud Indian, I am indeed saddened and upset by the statements made by Mr. Yograj Singh,” he wrote on Twitter.

Former Indian SUV Yuvraj Singh said on Saturday that he hoped for a “quick resolution” to farmers’ current problems through dialogue. The 2011 World Cup winning star also distanced himself from comments made by his father, Yograj Singh, earlier this week during a protest rally.

Celebrating his 39th birthday, Yuvraj wrote on Twitter: “Birthdays are an opportunity to fulfill a wish or wish and this birthday instead of celebrating it, I only wish and pray for a speedy resolution of the ongoing conversations between our farmers and our government. “.

“Without a doubt, farmers are the soul of the nation and I really believe that there is no problem that cannot be solved through peaceful dialogue,” he added.

“As a proud Indian, I am indeed saddened and upset by the statements of Mr. Yograj Singh. I want to clarify that your comments have been made on an individual basis and my ideologies are not the same in any way, “said Yuvraj, referring to his father’s statement about athletes who return awards.

Thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana are camping at various border points in Delhi, protesting against the new farm laws, which they claim will dismantle the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system, leaving them “at the mercy” of large corporations.

In a show of solidarity with farmers, some athletes from Punjab and Haryana, including Khel Ratna’s laureate Vijender Singh, have threatened to return the national sports awards they had won.

The concern of farmers is that these laws, aimed at reforming the sector, will eliminate the MSP and the mandi that ensure their income. But the government says the MSP system will continue and the new laws will give farmers more options to sell their products.
