Mumbai:
A model and YouTuber, posing as a journalist, was arrested by Mumbai police on Tuesday for allegedly posting abusive content against women on social media.
Pradeep Mohinder Singh Choudhary, who also goes by the name Saahil Choudhary, has videos on various topics, including the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, on his YouTube channel.
Mr. Choudhary was taken to Mumbai after his arrest from Delhi. The YouTuber is from Faridabad in Haryana, police said.
Acting on a woman’s complaint, the police have charged Mr. Choudhary in accordance with the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for abusive language in the guise of a journalist. Police said the man has confessed that he is not a journalist and that he was uploading the videos to increase followers on his YouTube channel and other social networks, such as Instagram.
Saahil Choudhary has posted several videos on the Sushant Rajput case, many of which are not based on facts. You have been arrested under sections 509, 505 (2), 500, 501, 504, and 34 of the IPC. He has also been charged under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act of 2000.
Meanwhile, actor Kangana Ranaut supported the YouTuber and tweeted: “What’s going on in Mumbai? Can no one question the world’s most incompetent CM and his team? What will they do to us? Breaking our houses and killing us? @INCIndia, Who is responsible for this? #Istandwithsaahilchoudhary (sic) “.
In another tweet, he said: “Someone files a random FIR against Saahil for questioning the work of the Maha government, which is his democratic right, and Shaahil is immediately jailed, but #PayalGhosh has filed a FIR against #AnuragKashyap many days ago for rape, but she’s free. Kya hai yeh sab @INCIndia (sic)? “
